Search the Continental Court Docket

Start with Putnam County when you need a Continental court docket. Continental, a Putnam County village, has no separate court portal of its own. So the court named on your citation or notice points you to the right place. County online docket-entry tools cover many Continental matters, and the Clerk of Courts keeps the official record for anything from confirming a hearing to ordering copies. A Continental court docket search can locate a filed case, trace a recent court event, or tell you where a hearing belongs.

Continental Court Docket Through Ottawa

Continental sits in Monroe Township in Putnam County. Once a state-court case is filed, the record travels to the county seat in Ottawa. There the Putnam County Clerk of Courts keeps the legal-division file. Village hall and local enforcement may keep records of their own, but neither holds the county court docket after filing. For a Continental court docket, begin with the county court that has jurisdiction. Turn to the Clerk when you need an official copy, older-file research, or confirmation of a court date. County online results show docket entries only. The paper record at the Clerk's counter supersedes the online system. That office stays part of any Continental case lookup.

Continental Municipal Court Route

No separate Continental Municipal Court exists in the record system. Putnam County Municipal Court covers the whole county. It serves as the normal Continental court for traffic violations, non-traffic misdemeanors, civil claims at or below $15,000, and small claims at or below $6,000. Its CourtView system is the public online entry point for those Continental case categories. Felonies, larger civil claims, and domestic-relations matters belong to Common Pleas. Probate and Juvenile sit apart as county divisions. A Continental case may begin in the village, yet the county court with jurisdiction holds its docket.

Continental Court Docket and Police Records

The Continental Police page lists the department at 100 North Main Street, Continental, OH 45831. That address is not a court records counter. The Police Department does not keep the Continental court docket. A police or village record differs from the case register created once a citation or other matter is filed with the county court. The police page itself offers official contact context for the department. It also shows the practical split: a local agency may be tied to an event, while the court's Clerk holds the resulting Continental case docket, court date, and certified case copies.

Continental court docket distinction from the Continental Police Department

For any filed Continental court case, call the Clerk or use the correct CourtView portal. The police address is not a public court-docket terminal.

Continental Court Dates and Settings

A Continental court date may first appear on a citation or notice, then show up in the county docket as a notice, hearing entry, continuance, or order. The county publishes no single universal calendar. Check CourtView for the latest dated entry, and call the Clerk if the Continental appearance matters, the setting looks moved, or the case may be new. Many county hearings now happen by telephone, so confirm the format before you go.

DateUse the newest setting-related Continental docket entry, not a prior date alone.
TimeConfirm the time with the Clerk when remote instructions or a reset are possible.
CourtMunicipal and Common Pleas CourtView cover different Continental case types.
Setting typeArraignment, pretrial, hearing, and trial describe different court events.
Later orderA later notice or order determines whether a Continental court date changed.

A motion asking for a continuance doesn't mean the Continental date moved. Common Pleas trial continuances need judicial approval. If illness is the issue, the county directs you to contact the Clerk about a possible continuance.

Continental Court Docket Village Records

The official Village of Continental page covers village government, local services, and community information. It names no Continental court portal and no Mayor's Court. After a case is filed with Putnam County, village records sit apart from the court docket entirely.

Continental court docket context from the official village page

Village contacts handle village-administration questions well. A county court case, docket entry, hearing date, or certified copy belongs with the court and Clerk holding the file. According to the official site, the village dates to 1886. It runs on a Mayor/Council form of government. Those facts give government context, but they don't create a separate Continental court.

Continental Traffic Tickets

Most Continental traffic tickets land in Putnam County Municipal Court. Check the paper first, since it controls. Per Municipal CourtView, a ticket shows up online only after the filing agency sends it to the court. That takes two to three business days on average. The court tells users to search by last name and first name only. That is the supported Continental lookup method. Citation-number searching is not one of them.

Eligible traffic and criminal citations can be paid online, and only in full. A ticket that requires an appearance keeps its court date no matter what. If the entry never appears after the filing delay, call the Clerk. The same goes for confirming a setting. The county traffic court records page walks through the countywide payment process.

Continental ticket check: A local police contact is not the court custodian. Search the named county court and call the Clerk if the filed case is unclear.

Continental Court Docket and Ordinances

Continental’s ordinances page comes from village government, and it lists local rules. It is not a court docket search. Reading an ordinance tells you what the village prohibits. It cannot tell you whether a Continental citation was filed. It also cannot tell you when a hearing is set, or what the court entered. Once a matter becomes a filed state-court case, the docket sits with the county court. That is the court that holds jurisdiction.

Continental court docket distinction from the village ordinances page

That split keeps a Continental question on track. Village material answers what the rule says. CourtView and the Clerk answer everything about the case, the setting, and the official record.

Continental Court Docket Local Context

Continental is the fifth-largest incorporated community in Putnam County. Its 2020 Census population is 1,102. Its official site lists Norfolk Southern rail service, state routes 613 and 634. It also lists local police, fire, and EMS. Nice background, but none of it moves a docket. A village service page does not hold state-court records. No village search portal exists for them.

The distinction matters. A Continental resident may start with a citation, summons, or case notice. Yet the court named on that paper decides the route. Putnam County’s jurisdiction system, not the village, controls where a filed Continental court case lives.

Where Continental Court Cases End Up

Continental cases follow the standard Putnam County court map. Municipal Court takes ordinary traffic, misdemeanors, lower-dollar civil claims, and small claims. Felonies, civil claims above the Municipal limit, and domestic cases go to Common Pleas. Probate and Juvenile each run through their own county division. Nothing in the official Continental material suggests a local Mayor’s Court exception like the one documented in Columbus Grove.

Docket flow: Continental village activity or local enforcement action › Putnam County Municipal Court or Court of Common Pleas › Ohio Third District Court of Appeals when an appeal proceeds.

Appeals from a lower court move through the Common Pleas clerk to the Third District Court of Appeals in Lima. The original Continental docket may note a notice of appeal. Appellate review, though, is its own court record.

Continental Court Docket Search Fallbacks

An empty Continental result has several ordinary explanations. The case may sit in the other county portal. A new ticket may still be inside the two to three business-day filing window. Or the file may predate available scanning. Or access may be restricted. Civil and domestic microfilm reaches into the early 1950s, felony microfilm to 1974, and scanning began in 2005. Call the Clerk instead of reading a missing online entry as proof. A missing online entry is not proof that no Continental case exists.

Give the Clerk the court level and the case number if known. Add any caption information, the approximate filing year, and the exact record or date needed. Counter, mail, fax, and public-record-request routes all exist. Continental Probate or Juvenile matters use a separate line: 419-523-3012.

Separate a new case from a restricted one. A recent Municipal ticket may simply not be filed yet. A Juvenile, adoption, sealed, or court-restricted record is limited because access rules apply. An older Continental civil, domestic, or felony record may need Clerk research. That can happen even though the court kept it. Different reasons, different county contacts.

The practical sequence starts with the court name. Use the matching county portal, and read the newest entries. Then call the Clerk if the question stays open. Probate or Juvenile? Call that division instead. Need an official Continental copy? Ask the Clerk for the right copy type and confirm any cost before paying. That keeps the docket search tied to the office that controls the record.

Public Access to Continental Court Records

Ohio access rules and the County Clerk’s controls govern Continental court records. Online docket access means public docket-entry access, not unlimited remote reach into every file. Some material can be absent or limited. That includes sealed files, protected personal identifiers, many juvenile files, adoptions, and court-restricted content. For an official Continental court copy, the Clerk is the source.

Key Rules:

Ohio Rules of Superintendence, Sup.R. 44-47 govern public court-record access and protected information.

Ohio Revised Code 149.43 supports inspection and copying of public records subject to exceptions.

Ohio Revised Code 2953.34 limits inspection of sealed criminal records.

Note: A Continental court docket helps you locate a case or hearing. Court rules and the Clerk still control official access and copies.
